Donald L. Rademacker

PEKIN ~ Donald “Don” Rademacker, 86, of Pekin, passed away at 9:03 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Pekin Manor.
Born May 16, 1933 in Scott County to John and Helen (Weiss) Rademacker, he married Betty L. Worlow on June 8, 1957 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Vicki (Steve) Bonk of Rantoul, Brenda (Tim) Bechtold of Frankfort and Cheryl (Dave) Cooper of LaGrange Park; ten grandchildren, Sarah (Daryl) Heiser, Rachel (Jeff) Wendel, Joshua (Christa) Bonk, Matt (Amanda Smith) Cooper, Nick Cooper, Eric Cooper, Becca Cooper, Jennifer Bechtold, Kyle Bechtold and Nicole Bechtold; five great-grandchildren, Zayne, Asya and Roman Heiser, Elliot and A.J. Bonk and two siblings, Florine Hazard and Fred (Gayle) Rademacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Rademacker.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War era.
He was a 1959 graduate of Bradley University, where he earned his degree in Automotive Technology, with a minor in Business Management.
Don had worked at Sears in East Peoria as the Unit Manager for Truck Tire Sales & Service for 26 years, retiring in 1991. He later worked at Goodyear Tire in Pekin, retiring in 2010 after 15 years.
A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, family always came first with Don. He and his wife, Betty, were blessed to have celebrated 62 years of marriage together. Don enjoyed traveling, being with family and friends, and attending community events. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and was a dedicated, longtime blood donor.
Don was a 50-plus year member at First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
