Sean D. Kerby

PEKIN ~ Sean Douglas Kerby, 53, of Pekin, passed away at 12:34 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at his home.

He was born March 25, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas to Paul French, Sr. and Mary Alice (Gosnell) Kerby.  He married Kimberly K. Thompson and later married Dana Christine (Edlund) Guerro.

Surviving are his parents, Paul, Sr. and Mary Kerby of Pekin; one daughter, Kamberly Thompson of Iowa; one grandson, Drystan Walker of Iowa; two brothers, William Kerby of Uniontown, Ohio and Paul (Kara) Kerby, Jr, of Pekin; and one sister, Alicia (Christopher) Friedman of Dunlap.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delmar and Dorothea Gosnell, Lora John Kerby, and Mary Virginia Toole; two uncles, James D. Gosnell and Ernest Ray Kerby; and one aunt, Kay Lock.

A 1984 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Sean attended Illinois Central College in East Peoria and was a graduate of the College of DuPage.

Sean was a fire rescue paramedic for Lakeshore Volunteer Fire Department in Bandera, Texas for 10 years.  He also had worked for the United States Border Patrol, Assistant Site Director for West Tele Services in Texas, an over the road truck driver, and manager of both the Joann Fabrics in Springfield and K.B. Toys in Pekin.

Sean was a member of the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team, The Illinois Society of The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.

Sean enjoyed traveling and had visited 173 countries and all of the United States except Alaska and Hawaii.

His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Lauren Padgett and Rev. Carole Hoke will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
