Mary Katherine Dupent

PEKIN ~ Mary K. Dupent, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at her home in Pekin. 

Born September 9, 1934 in Pekin to Gerald W., Sr. and Mabel L. (Kief) Hall, she married Morris G. Dupent on October 4, 1953 in Pekin.  He died on February 7, 2014 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Cory Lee DePeugh; one sister, Verna Richard; and one brother, Gerald “Bill” Hall Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin M. (Kady) Dupent of Germantown Hills and Eric A. (Michelle) Dupent of South Pekin and five grandchildren, Christopher Scott DePeugh of East Peoria, Ace Anthony (Brianna) Dupent of Sumter, South Carolina, Emily Trier of Glen Carbon, Madison Trier and Sophia Dupent, both of Germantown Hills, and two brothers; Ray (Karen) Hall and John “Jack’ (Pam) Hall, both of Pekin.

Mary first worked at the Empire Theater while in high school and met Morrie there.  She also worked as a secretary for the law firm of Frings & Bagley and then for Corn Products.  She later worked for Tazwood Mental Health Center as an executive secretary for more than 20 years.  Mary had beautiful shorthand and could type like a breeze.  She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed bowling with Morrie in couples’ leagues at Roxy’s Lanes in Pekin.  She also enjoyed fishing trips to Chetek, Wisconsin with family.

She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin and the Couples Club at the church.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.  The Rev. Daniel J. Bishop will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church.  Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.  Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
