GLASFORD ~ Edward Alan “Ed” Best, 63, of Glasford, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at his home.

Born September 21, 1956 in Peoria, he was the son of Richard and Flossie (Taylor) Best.  He married Terri Inman on June 17, 2006 at the Glasford United Methodist Church.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jeramie Best of Bloomington; two daughters, Brittany Best of Cummings, Georgia and Paige Paschal of Eureka; one grandson, Jeremiah Rice and one sister, Edie Reid of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

He had attended Illini Bluffs High School.

Ed worked for Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville 33 years.  He then worked in maintenance for Liberty Village in Peoria for 8 years, retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Glasford United Methodist Church where he was active, serving as head trustee.

Ed had coached youth basketball for Pekin Union Mission and had also been a referee for basketball for several years.  He enjoyed going camping and fishing, spending time and helping out his friends and neighbors and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  He could usually be found walking his dog Loki around town during the day.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Glasford United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Ethan Carnes will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday evening at the church.  Cremation will be accorded following the service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glasford United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 170, Glasford, IL 61533 or to the Peoria Animal Welfare Shelter, 2600 NE Perry Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603.
