EAST PEORIA ~ Jeffrey Harlyn “Jeff” King, 70, of East Peoria, passed away at 3:51 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born October 3, 1949 in Long Beach, California to Harlan and Alice (Rayl) King, he married Linda Hall on March 3, 2012 at Riverside Community Church in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are his mother Alice of Peoria and one sister, Jill (Jerry) Branson of Creve Coeur.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Jeff had proudly served in the United States Army in the military police.  He served in the Multinational Force and Observers, which is an international peacekeeping force overseeing the terms of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. The MFO generally operates in and around the Sinai Peninsula.

He had received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Fraternity.  He later earned his Master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety from Illinois State University in Normal.

Jeff had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. until his retirement on December 31, 2012 in the Emission Control Department in Mossville.

He was a charter member of the Riverside Community Church in Peoria where he led the Celebrate Recovery Ministry which is a program that helps people heal from the hurts, habits and hang ups through a Christ centered twelve step recovery program.

Jeff had been a member of the National Rifle Association and the Tremont Sportsmen’s Club.

His funeral will be at noon Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Riverside Community Church in Peoria with a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. John King will officiate.  Private burial will be at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
