NORTH PEKIN ~ Robert Dale Horton Sr., 55, of North Pekin passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Born November 22, 1964 in Arab, AL the son of his father Rodger (Joy) Horton of Guntersville, AL, and his mother Barbara Campbell of Grandin, MO . He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ryleigh Ann Moles; one nephew Justin Lee Horton.

He is survived by his parents; mothers of his children, Anita Stegall, Robin Lowe, Tina Mueller and one special friend, Brenda Dunniway; ten children, Robert Horton Jr., Shawna (Bradley) Clutter, Natasha (Leo) Ramales of  NY, Jason (Laura) Kidd of TN, Dustan (Chasity) Taylor, Josh (Beth) Taylor, Krystle (Chris) Kloess, Rebecca (Rickey) Albrecht, Patience Gordon, Nicole (Jacob) Moles of TX; 23 grandchildren; siblings, Roger Horton, Lee (Tina) Horton of Chaffee, MO, Dan Horton of Barrington, RI, Matthew (Gail) Horton of Guntersville, AL, Kim (John) Wilds of Grandin, MO, Tony (Darlene) Campbell of VA, Chris (Rose) Taylor, Jeff (Gloria) Taylor, Randy (Christy) Taylor, Penny Margetta, Pam Martinez, and Michelle Key, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert worked as a Grain Operator for over 20 years at Gateway Co-Packing in Washington Park.

He loved children and they loved him. He was known to many as Dad, Pops, Papa, and his favorite, Grampy.

Robert loved to cook, especially Barbecue. He was known for his kitchen concoctions that he made from anything he could find in the cabinets and in the refridgerator. His concoctions were most always good, but you didn’t want to come hungry because they took a long time to prepare. He also loved his biscuits and gravy,

He liked to fix things and loved his old rock and roll, his favorite being ACDC. Robert was proud to always have a bike ready to ride for all of his grandchildren when they came over to visit. He was always creative and would make homemade slides in the backyard. He also loved to go fishing and having bonfires.

Robert was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan and Rams Football fan.

He was good natured, fun loving, and loved by many.

A memorial service will be held for Robert on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Christian Life Church in Creve Coeur at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service also at the church.  Pastor Ron Talbott will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory, 500 N. 4th, Pekin, IL 61554 to assist the family with arrangements.
