PEKIN ~ Mary Jean Meridith, 76, of Pekin, passed away at 12:09 a.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at her home.

She was born August 1, 1943 in New Madrid, Missouri to Ethel Ellard and Hazel (Woods) Potter. 

She married the love of her life, Arlen Leon Meridith on September 17, 1960 in New Madrid Missouri. He died November 28, 2008 in Pekin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents four sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are one daughter; Tammy (Mike) Adamson of Pekin; five nieces, Pati (Wes) Jockisch of Pekin, Linda (Noel) Cameron of Pekin, Lynn Peters of Pekin, Carlene Denton of East Prarrie Mo, Susanne Martin of Pekin; three nephews, Tony (Connie) Berkley of Pekin, Charlie Fahnders of Pekin, Gene (Kim) Baker of Pekin, Life Long Friend Robin Artman of Pekin; three sister-in-law’s, Jean Strange of Pekin, Betty Davidson of Pekin, Shirley (Sock) Davidson of Florida; five neighbors Jim Bacino of Pekin, Sue (Larry) Lippman of Pekin, Jessica Turner of Pekin, Morgan Kennedy of Pekin, Debbie and Dale on the corner of Pekin, and numerous more nieces and nephews.

Mary loved the outdoors and spent as much time as she could with her husband fishing, camping and just enjoying their time together. They were soulmates for over 48 years and now have become angel soulmates.

Her graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.  Pastor James C. McClarey will officiate.  Cremation has been accorded by Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
