Gary M. Waremburg

TREMONT ~ Gary Merle Waremburg, 64, of Tremont, passed away 4:02 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born May 9, 1955 in Pekin to Merle August and Maxine Marilyn (Brants) Waremburg, he married Brenda Lynnette Dick on October 3, 1992 at First Baptist Church in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are five sisters, Sharon Whisenand, Diane Carpenter, both of Tremont, Susan Waremburg of Pekin, Dawn (David) Hackbart and Michelle (Jon B.) Boston, both of Tremont and two brothers, Greg (Leanne) Waremburg and Scott Waremburg, both of Tremont.  He also leaves his father-in-law, Bernie Dick of Tremont; a sister-in-law, Kelly Albrecht of Morton; a brother-in-law, Scott (Lonna) Dick of Niles, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.  His dogs were also a special part of his family: Cady, Ziva and Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Jennifer Monti, his mother-in-law, Bonnie Dick; a brother-in-law, Kirk Albrecht and his angel dogs, Cassidy and Ruby.

Gary was a 1973 graduate of Tremont High School.

He had worked for F.S. in Tremont, Morton Buildings and Caterpillar, Inc.   He worked 28 years on road maintenance for Tremont Township, last working in July 2017.

Gary loved following NASCAR, fishing, riding motorcycles and working on jigsaw puzzles.  He also enjoyed hiking and geocaching.  Gary followed Chicago sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.  He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and had helped his wife by volunteering with Operation Christmas Child. 

He was a member and former trustee of Tremont Baptist Church.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at Tremont Baptist Church.  Pastor Noah Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
