Rose M. Van Etten

HANNA CITY ~ Rose M. Van Etten ,64, of Hanna City, passed with her family by her side, at 8:39 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2019, at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria.

Rose was born on August 30, 1955, in Peoria, to Gene and Elva (Betts) Colton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Gene Colton and Elva (Betts) Bullen; one brother, William Colton, her grandfather, Clement Betts and her grandmother, Lois Betts.

Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer (Ryan Schacherbauer) Shriber of Hanna City; Jamie (Mike Meyer) Fultz of Trivoli; one son, William (Staci) Van Etten of Bartonville; seven grandchildren, Holly Shriber, Lynsey Shriber both of Hanna City, Natalie Fultz, Timothy Fultz, Quinton Fultz all of Trivoli, Addyson Van Etten and Brooklyn Van Etten both of Bartonville; two sisters, Cindy Colton of Fresno, California, and Sherry (Scott) Traviglia of Garden Grove, California; one brother, Clarence (Amy) Bullen of Riverside, California; one niece Amber Robinson of Fresno, California, and her long-time best friend, Brenda Buck of Peoria.

She worked at Fleming Potter, Lowes, Laidlaw and First Student. She was loved by many kids as a bus driver and it was one of her favorite jobs.    

In her free time, Rose enjoyed landscaping, she had a beautifully landscaped yard, the best darn yard in the south end. Other hobbies included fishing, being a part of bowling, pool and dart leagues. She loved to travel, especially to the beach and to Indiana with Brenda. She will be remembered for her love and commitment to her children and grandchildren and many, many friends. She always opened her heart and arms to help anyone.  She was the life of any party, and knew no stranger.  Although it was difficult for her to get around, she loved watching her grandchildren play sports or perform.    

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hanna City Tap; 119 N Main Street, Hanna City, IL on Sunday, January 19th from 2 to 5 p.m. 

Cremation has been accorded by Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
