Bill Riegel

CRYSTAL LAKE ~ Billy Dean “Bill” Riegel, 87, of Crystal Lake, passed away at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his home. He was formerly of Pekin.

He was born April 30, 1932 in Kilbourne to Glen and Nina (Masten) Riegel, he married Doris L. Strope on December 11, 1954 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Kurt Riegel of Crystal Lake; two granddaughters, Dana (Brian) Brandini of Joliet and Tonya Riegel of Frankfort; two great-grandsons, Gavin and Anthony A.J” and one sister, Betty (Rev. Wayne) North of Seattle, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Riegel and one son, Rick Riegel.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served in Korea.

He retired in 1992 after 38 years of service with Centel Telephone Company, as an engineering manager for their properties in Illinois and Ohio. He was a 1950 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Bill was a co-member of the Arlington Heights Christian Church and the First Christian Church in Pekin. He served in a number of positions in the Pekin Church as a deacon, Elder, trustee, Property Committee, The Pastoral Search Committee ChiRo Jr. High Youth Leader and a Bus Driver.

He was also a past Secretary and Commodore of the Pekin Boat Club. Bill also was a past member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and Kiwanis Club of Pekin.

His graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Pastor Allie Lundblad will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
