Elgin "Bud" Huber

EAST PEORIA ~ Elgin Harold “Bud” Huber, 96, of East Peoria, passed away at 9:46 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 in the Emergency Room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born September 7, 1923 in Shelbyville to Harold T. and Lela M. (Little) Huber, he married Wilda Faye Small on January 22, 1981 in Mapleton. She survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Theresa (Joseph) Genusa of Peoria, Lois (Robert) Baughman of East Peoria, Rose Ann (Brian) Cole and Roxann (Bobby) Tennison, both of Peoria and Brianna Trapper of East Peoria; one son, John “Chris” (Maria “Len”) Trapper of East Peoria; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one brother, Maurice (JoAnn) Huber of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, “JR” Trapper and one sister, Jean Butler.

Bud was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II.

He had worked at Construction Materials in Peoria, where he delivered concrete, retiring in 1982. Following retirement, Bud became a self-employed contractor in the area.

A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Bud enjoyed woodworking, collecting hats, John Deere memorabilia, ink pens and coins.

Bud was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur, where his funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020. The Rev. Al Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the church. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Glasford American Legion Post 35.
