E. Kay Landerdahl

PEORIA ~ E. Kay Landerdahl, 77, of Peoria, passed away at 1:42 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020 surrounded by her family in her home. In November 1961, Kay accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and passionately lived her life for Him until the very end.
Born December 12, 1942, in Lander, Wyoming, to Edward and Edna (Thoren) Mudge, she married Mark E. Landerdahl on September 8, 1962, in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Mark; daughters, Kris (Kim) Gerbrandt of Lenexa, KS, their children, Callie, Megan and Aaron; Sara Landerdahl, of Peoria, IL; grandchildren Andy and Linnea Landerdahl, and their mother Lisa Landerdahl of Rockford, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Landerdahl, on February 15, 2017; and two brothers, Eddie and Robert Mudge of Wyoming.
Kay also was an “adopted” spiritual mother to Kimberly Alexander, of Kentucky, and Stephen Causey, of Peoria.
She attended college at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado, for two years and graduated from Colorado Christian University in 1989 with a degree in Human Resources.
Kay spent much of her life teaching, both in the music classroom at Christian schools and at home through piano lessons. She also spent many years serving in the church through music: playing piano, organ, and flute and singing in choirs.
Kay was a proficient seamstress and enjoyed quilting. She was a member of Quilts and More at Grace Presbyterian Church. She also loved to crochet, and made baby blankets for Women’s Pregnancy Center in Peoria.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Kay loved to cook for her family and listen to hymns and classical music. She also spent many hours gardening and then canning and freezing the produce generated by her labors.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
Her funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Pastor John Hopwood will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Cremation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Presbyterian Church (Music Ministry), 8607 State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615.
