O’FALLON ~ Catherine “Cathy” Lynn Berlett, 58, of O’Fallon, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2020 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital - St. Louis. She was formerly of North Pekin.

 

She was born April 11, 1961 in Peoria to William and Mauritta (Streitmatter) Berlett. She was preceded in death by her father in August 2001.

 

Surviving are her mother, Mauritta Berlett of Creve Coeur; two sons, Zachary (Jennifer Craig) Minton of Creve Coeur and Brandan Minton of North Pekin; nine grandchildren, Zoe, Emma, Jaydan, Kynslee and Emerson Minton, Nicholas Craig, Deikyn Scurry and Xander and Ben Minton; five siblings, Dianne Hunter of Florida, Brad (Angie) Berlett of Washington, Mary (Earl R.) Mauerman of Morton, Teri (Hal) Burdin of Marquette Heights and Bill (Lilly) Berlett of Hoffman Estates and her significant other, Bruce Hardy of O’Fallon.

 

Cathy had worked as an executive secretary for the State of Illinois Dept. of Children & Family Services for many years. She had also worked as a secretary for Marquette Heights School District #102.

 

A loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, Cathy had a heart of gold. She enjoyed working crosswords puzzles and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment was spending quality time with her two sons and grandchildren.

 

Cathy was a former member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur.

 

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.

 

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Midwest Affiliate, 530 North East Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637.
