Alan Blazevich

PEKIN ~ Alan Raymond Blazevich, 64, of Pekin, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his home.

Born May 7, 1955 in Centerville, Iowa to Floyd and Ethel Ann (McCloud) Blazevich, he married Cheryl Lynn Bryan on December 22, 1985 in Centerville, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Shrean (Casey) Fawcett of Rockmart, Georgia; three step-children, Paul (Stacey) Brumhead of Star, Idaho, Chris (Melissa) Johnson and Jessica (Joe) Matlock, both of Pekin; 16 grandchildren; one step-great-grandson and five siblings, Archie (Lorna) Blazevich of Arizona, Jimmy (Bonnie) Blazevich of Louisiana, Floyd “Chipper” Blazevich, II and Danny (Judy) Blazevich, both of Pekin and David Blazevich of Illinois. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alan had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria as a welder for 34 years, retiring in 2007. He was a proud member of the of the UAW Local 974. He also worked part time for Dave Burling & Son.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, his family’s happiness brought great joy to his heart. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed woodworking, was a jack of all trades and a man with a plan.

Alan will be remembered by many as the clown riding the unicycle in local parades and was a friend to all who knew him.

He was a member of McArthur Dive Baptist Church in North Pekin.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to McArthur Drive Baptist Church, 109 North McArthur Drive, North Pekin, Illinois 61554.
