Dale LaJennesse

PEKIN ~ Dale Wayne LaJennesse, 74, of Pekin, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his home.

Born June 2, 1945 in Mitchell, South Dakota, he married Patricia R. Gouge in Pontiac. He later married Janet L. (Schleder) Vance on November 26, 1988 in Manito. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Dawn Snapp of Missouri; one son, Robert (Christy) LaJennesse of Lakeland, Florida; one step-daughter, Sheri (Alan) Young of Hopedale; one step-son, Eric Vance of Havana; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Kirk Vance; one grandson, Travis Patterson; one brother, Merle LaJennesse and one sister, Doris Fowler.

Dale was a Vietnam veteran serving his country in the United States Air Force and then was member with the Illinois Air National Guard, totaling 21 years.

He was a former member of the USAF NCO Club, Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 in Pekin, William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 in Pekin.

During his military career, Dale was an Air Ops Specialist and Certified Controller as MSGT E-7. He later worked in home improvement sales for Sherwin Williams and Handy Andy. He was also a sales consultant in the Paint and Electrical Departments at Menard’s.

Dale enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working on model planes. He found great joy spending time with his family.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

His private graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Military rites will be provided by the United States Air Force and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
