CREVE COEUR ~ The sunset at 8:55 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 for Hugh Gene Billingsley at his home.
The sun rose for Hugh on September 25, 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee to Vader Lee and Maudie (Binkley) Billingsley. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant grandson and three brothers, Anthony, Roy and Robert Billingsley.
Surviving are one son, Hugh Gene Billingsley, II of Creve Coeur; two daughters, Michelle Billingsley of Porter, Texas and Jessica J. (Ryan) Leitner of Creve Coeur; one step-daughter, Tonya (Katie) Hall-Crumbs of New Cany, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tre Young, Alexia, Adrianna and Sky Billingsley, Haley Hayes, Dustin Prince, Zaine Hall and Maverick and Parker Grubbs; two great-grandchildren, Annabella and Maya and three siblings, Ruby (Dave) Peters of Creve Coeur, Howard “Randy” (Donna) Billingsley of Chillicothe and Donald Billingsley of Tennessee.
Hugh had worked for Waste Management as a driver for 39 years, retiring in 2016. He was a 39 retiree the Teamsters and Chauffeurs Union Local 627 of Peoria, where he served as Post Sergeant at Arms.
He loved riding motorcycles and was a proud owner of several Harley’s throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his four best friends in life, Melvin Hall, Collin Stuart, Tony Spinard and Mel Howe.
His private graveside service will be at FonduLac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur has been entrusted with arrangements.
