Russell W. Lorentz, II

PEKIN ~ Russell Wilson Lorentz, II, 84, of Pekin, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home.
Born January 30, 1936 in Peoria to Russell Wilson and Lucille Viola (Giroux) Lorentz, he married Mary Louise Elzer on February 27, 1955 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dennis W. (Teri) Lorentz of Pekin; one daughter, Denise A. (Earnie) Hawn of Metamora; five grandchildren, Barbara (Ryan) Landis, J.D. Lorentz, Amy Hawn, Kellie (J.T.) Birkett and Greg Call; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Scott Hawn and one sister, Jacqueline L. Neaveill.
He had served in the United States Naval Reserves.
Russell first worked as a mechanic at Cadly Oil in Peoria for 8 years and then went on to work out of Carpenter’s Local 183 in Peoria as a cabinet maker. He later worked as a carpenter/construction supervisor with the Peoria Park District for 10 years. Russell last worked for Pinellas County in Florida in the engineering department for 11 years, retiring in 2001.
No services or visitation are planned. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
