Richard D. Hopkins

PEKIN ~ Richard Dale Hopkins, 76, of Pekin passed away on October 11, 2020 at 10:15 a.m. at his residence.

Born April 22, 1944 in Pekin to Charles Henry and Edna Mae (Church) Hopkins.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheri Hopkins, Angela (Butch) Dowds; one son, Richard (Natasha) Hopkins Jr.; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Cody, Calie, Candace, Nicki, Haley, Mckenzie, Payton; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one great granddaughter.

He worked in manufacturing at Caterpillar INC. for many years retiring in 1995.

Richard enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, John Wayne movies and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved coaching youth baseball and bitty basketball for the community and coached many years in Marquette Heights. He was known as a very giving man and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed by all family and friends who knew him.

A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

Burial will be held at a later date at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
