SOUTH PEKIN ~ Marguerite T. Clifton, 96, of 301 Minch Street,
died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in
Pekin.
Born July 8, 1909 in Cincinnati Township, Tazewell County to Leonard and Anna
Beck Olt, she married LeRoy E. Clifton, Jr. on August 31, 1935 in Pekin. He died
April 21, 1990 in Pekin. Her parents and three brothers also preceded her in
death.
Surviving are two sons, Roy L. Clifton and Douglas L. Clifton, both of South
Pekin; one grandson, Scott (Lisa) Clifton of South Pekin; and four
great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Clifton enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. She was a Saint
Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
She was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and the
Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Mount Hope
Cemetery in Tremont. The Rev. Dwight E. Borden will officiate. There will be no
visitation. Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN ~ Leona Lucinda Dunniway, 84, of 230 Court Street,
Apartment 805, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Pekin Living and
Rehabilitation Center in Pekin.
Born June 7, 1921 in Pekin to Thomas and Luella Vance Houston, she married James
Gilbert Dunniway on July 1, 1938 in Bowling Green, Missouri. He died August 28,
1966 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson,
three brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are three sons, James D. (Barbara) Dunniway, Thomas B. (Barb) Dunniway,
and Gerald L. “Jerry” (Brenda) Dunniway, all of Pekin; one daughter, Nancy
J. Coats of Pekin; thirteen grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty
great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson;
one brother, Robert Yoder of California; and two sisters, Lola (Charles) Dinkins
of Owosso, Michigan and Lois (Lloyd) Hodel of Kentucky.
A homemaker, Mrs. Dunniway worked for Pekin Dairy during the 1970’s.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour
before services. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Burial will be in
Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

BLOOMINGTON -- Clara S. Wunder, 63, of 1445 Valle Vista Blvd,
Apartment C, Pekin, formerly of 819 East Douglas Street, Bloomington, died
Thursday, August 25, 2005 at her residence.
Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at Kibler-Smith
Memorial Home, Bloomington. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at
Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington. The Rev. J.T. Lovins will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the family. Local arrangements are by the
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
Clara was born February 17, 1942 in Leashville, Arkansas, the son of the late
Edgar Stone and the late Myrtle Stone. She married John V. Wunder on August 8,
1958, in Bloomington. He died November 23, 2003. She later lived with her
companion, Robert E. Rose, in Pekin. He survives.
Clara is survived by six children, Rex Wunder Sr., Connie Wunder, Alma Gaston,
Dorothy (Robert) Horton, Steven (Teresa) Wunder and Diana Wunder, all of
Bloomington; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucy
Cook of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and
brothers and sisters.
She was as a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, and companion and will be missed by all.

PEKIN – Robert Eugene Anderson, 88, of 1407 South 12th Street, died at 8:47
p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 28, 1917 in DuQuoin to Shalon A.. and Laura Wright Anderson, he
married Linda M. Godbey McClanahan on November 26, 1971 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Laura (Daniel) Dobbelaire of Pekin; 1
step-son, Steven (Kathy) McClanahan of Pekin; and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Gary L. Anderson; 1 step-son, Michael L.
McClanahan; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Mr. Anderson worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring as a welder in
1982.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from November 5, 1943 until being
discharged as a sergeant on March 3, 1946.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
He was a member of the Pekin Union Mission Society.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2005 at
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. James West will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will
be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Military honors will be provided by the United
States Air Force Reserve.

PEORIA – Betty Lee Drake, 80, of 3227 N. Bigelow died at 6:19 p.m.,
Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Proctor Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1925 in Green Valley to Wilbert R. and Bernice G. Cowser
Drake.
Surviving are 1 brother, Dale (Dorothy) Drake of Pekin; 1 niece, Leslie (Carl)
Hauk of Tremont; and 1 nephew, Jim (Julie) Drake of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Illinois State
University in 1947 and later received her Master’s degree in education from
Bradley University.
Drake taught at Woodruff High School for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as the head
of the English department. She had previously taught at Auburn High School in
Auburn. After her retirement, she worked as a consultant at Bradley University
and wrote grant requests for Peoria School District 150.
She was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Peoria-Suburban. She
was awarded membership into the prestigious George F. Hixson Fellowship of
Kiwanis International on December 5, 1997. She had served as lieutenant governor
for Division 20 of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International
in 1996-97. She also served on the Make-A-Wish Foundation board of directors.
She was an avid reader.
Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home. Private
burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.

GROVELAND – Phillip Charles Storck, Sr., 80, of 4601
Sheridan Rd. died at 5:34 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2005 at his home.
Born January 14, 1925 in Pekin to Christ J. and Sarah Stevens Eitenmiller Storck,
Sr., he married Ruth Clarinda Dodson on August 15, 1945 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 4 daughters, Darlene (James) Lawrence of Groveland,
Patsy (Jerry) Moore of East Peoria, Marcia K. Eades of Morton, and Sharon
(Wilson) Cespedes of Peoria; 1 son, Phillip (Carol) Storck, Jr. of Washington
Township, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-.grandsons; and 1 brother, Christ
(Mary) Storck, Jr. of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by 3 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Mr. Storck was an electrician who worked out of the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers Local #34 in Peoria for 22 years until retiring in 1987.
Previously, he had worked for Corn Products Corporation, Quaker Oats, and Farlan
Buick, all in Pekin and Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville. He had
also been a self-employed carpenter for 11 years. During that time he built 21
homes, including his own home for 49 years.
He served in the U.S. Army’s 63rd, 28th, and 2nd infantry divisions fighting
the Battles of the Rhineland in central Germany during World War II.
He was a member of the Evergreen Aviation Museum on McMinnville, Oregon.
He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and writing.
Cremation will be accorded.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2005 at Preston-Hanley
Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be
2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be in
Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.

NORTH PEKIN ~ Lyle Everett Conway, 90, of 601 Prince Street
in Pekin died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Pekin Hospital. He was
formerly of 305 North Main Street in North Pekin.
Born September 22, 1914 in Tower Hill to Arthur Elbert and Edith Dot Hughes
Conway, he married Christine Tarter on June 3, 1934 in Decatur. She died
September 8, 1994 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one
son (David K. Conway on February 16, 1998 in Peoria), two grandchildren, one
brother, and two sisters.
Surviving are four sons, Everett W. (Elizabeth) Conway of Tremont, Jerry R.
(Marilyn Jane) Conway of Madison, Indiana, Bernard “Bud” (Loretta) Conway of
Whitwell, Tennessee, and Stephen R. (Judith) Conway of Morton; three daughters,
Nancy M. (Nolan “Pete”) Heitzman of Pekin, Marilyn A. (Virgel) Hartsock of
Tremont, and Mary Helen (Lonnie) Popejoy of Metamora; eighteen grandchildren;
twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters,
Geraldine Wilbur of Saint Louis, Missouri and Thelma DePasquale of Honolulu,
Hawaii.
Mr. Conway was an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 28
years, retiring in 1976. Previously, he worked for ABC Washing Machine Company
in Peoria and later Corn Products Company in Pekin. He also had served as the
first mayor of the Village of North Pekin from 1947 to 1949.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland and the Metropolitan
Retirees Club. He was a former member and trustee of Faith Baptist Church in
Pekin.
He enjoyed gardening and his church.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2005 at Cornerstone
Baptist Church, 18040 Unsicker Road, Groveland. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter
will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at
the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Monday
at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

She was born in Brazil, Ind., on Oct. 24,
1921, to Onnie Curtis and Bertha Clara Craig Knowles. She married John William
Utt June 10, 1940. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were a son, David Utt, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, John (Joanne) Utt of Groveland and Richard (Becky) Utt
of Peoria; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
August 23, 2005 at Owen Cemetery in Brazil, Indiana. The Rev. Olan Strader will

PEKIN – Donald Louis Gebhardt, 74, of 2201 Belmont Dr. died at 4:50 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born October 13, 1930 in Pekin to Andrew and Mary Jackson Gebhardt, he married Flora Ellen Kastner on August 26,1951 in Manito.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Mary Ibbotson and Carol Gebhardt, both of Pekin; 2 grandsons, Jason and Nathan Ibbotson, both of Pekin; 1 brother, Norman (Imogene) Gebhardt of Pekin; and 1 sister, Mildred (Frank) Neulinger of Manito.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Mr. Gebhardt co-owned and operated Gebhardt Poultry in Pekin for 57 years, retiring in 2003.
He served in the United States Air Force from December 14, 1950 until being discharged as an Airman First Class in September 10, 1954.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday,

Born October 8, 1912 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Will P. and Lillie Florence Troxell Troxell, she married Henry M. Barnette on December 19, 1931 in Sommerset, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 3, 1973 in Peoria; 1 grandson; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.
Surviving are 4 sons, Clarence J. (Sheila) Barnette and Jay Barnette, both of Tremont, Sam (Eleanor)
Barnette of East Peoria and Dwayne Barnette of Creve Coeur; 3 daughters, Velda (Kenneth) Andrus of LaFayette, Indiana, Donna (Johnny) Johnston of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Bonnie (Bud) Caughey of Mapleton; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 1 half-brother, Herbert (Earline) Troxell of Monticello, Kentucky; and 2 half-sisters, Ina (Lewis) Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana and Evalene (David) Koontz of Monticello, Kentucky.
Mrs. Barnette worked as a seamstress at the Boss Glove Company in Peoria from 1945 until its closing in 1960.
She was a member of the Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church, the Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the VFW Auxiliary #2078 in East Peoria.
She loved to quilt, crochet, and play BINGO.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Claude Craig will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

PEORIA – Lerlie Mae “Sally” Foster, 83, formerly of 2701 Springdale Ave., died at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 4, 1922 in Holiday, Tennessee to Joe and Emma Faulkner Kelly, she married Byron Dwight Foster in 1941 in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1973 in Peoria; 1 son, Ivan Anthony Foster on July 14, 1999; and 4 sisters.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Lurleen “Susie” (Ronald) Cotner of Pekin.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria.
She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, traveling, baby sitting and playing cards.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. There will be no visitation.

PEKIN ~ Ira Nelson Barner, 88, of 1520 El Camino Drive, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Pekin Manor. He was formerly of 308 Fayette Street in Pekin.
Born March 30, 1917 in Solona, Pennsylvania to Nelson Ira and Ethel Ellen Buchanan Barner, he married Ruth Elaine Griesser on January 1, 1938 in Pekin. She died April 8, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son (John Barner in 1944), three granddaughters, and one brother (Albert H. Barner).
Surviving are two daughters, Addie (Kenneth) Fisher and Mary (Gerald) Graber, both of Pekin; two sons, Albert Barner of Camp Point and Ira Barner of Topeka; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Adeline (Joseph) Niemiec of Chicago.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Barner worked as a custodian at Pekin Community High School for 30 years,
retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Pekin Bible Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Harold Pothoven will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

HAROLD YOUELL
(1918~2005)

PEKIN ~ Harold Dean Youell, 87, of 1211 South 18th Street, died at 6 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2005 at Pekin Manor.
Born May 29, 1918 in St. David to George and Myrtle L. Garren Youell, he married Virginia G. Schlieman on November 21, 1940 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Janis A. “Jan” (Ronald) Matuska of Mackinaw; and one grandson, Joshua R. “Josh” Ketchmark of Sherman Oaks, California.
His parents preceded him in death.
A 1936 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he attended Rochester Junior College, Illinois State University, and Indiana Technical College.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, where he had been a pilot.
Mr. Youell worked for Caterpillar, Inc for 38 years, retiring in 1978 as the inventory authorization and review manager at the general offices in Peoria. While at Caterpillar, he was the assistant manager of the accounts division from 1953 to 1957 and auditor from 1957 to 1965. He had worked at Caterpillar plants in England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico.
He served on the Pekin Public Schools District #108 Board of Education for 9 years, the Pekin Park District Board for 9 years, and the United Fund Board in Pekin. A former director of the National Association of Accountants, he contributed three manuscripts to Management Accounting Magazine. One of the manuscripts was published in 1967, received the Certificate of Merit from the National Association of Accountants. He had been a volunteer at both Pekin Hospital and Dirksen Congressional Center in Pekin.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was a former church treasurer and moderator. He was a 52-year member of Empire Lodge #126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Pekin. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin, the Celestial City Campers, and the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN ~ George John Look, 96, of 1104 South 8th Street, died at 7:16 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2005 at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton.
Born January 1, 1909 in Pekin to George and Alice Schantz Look, he married Ila Loraine Smith on June 15, 1935 in Washington. This past June Mr. and Mrs. Look celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife; one son, David R. (Barbara) Look of Naperville; one daughter, Sharon Z. (Ronald) Guengerich of Elmhurst; five grandchildren, Roger L. (Kim) Look of LeRoy, Alan D. (Rebecca) Look of Bloomington, and Dale R. Look, Nicole K. Filippidis, and Christine C. Filippidis, all of Naperville; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Look worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years, retiring November 1, 1971 as a material control clerk at building HH in East Peoria. Previously, he worked at area greenhouses and was a horticulturist for the Pekin Park District.
He was a charter and the oldest living member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where he had been a third grade Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a former member of the dart ball team and men’s club at the church. He also was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the United Auto Workers Local #974 Retirees Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, flower gardening, and traveling.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. PEKIN ~ Henry Charles Wiseman, Jr., 85, of rural Pekin, died at 12:26 a.m. Monday,
August 8, 2005 at his home.
Born August 1, 1920 in Fancy Prairie to Henry Charles Sr. and Stella M. Dye Wiseman,
he married Betty Marie Laumeier on November 18, 1941 in Saint Charles, Missouri.
She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, H. Randy (Vikki) Wiseman of rural East Peoria and Terry E. (Karen) Wiseman of rural Morton; five grandchildren, Mark C. (Jennifer) Wiseman and Matt C. (Dana) Wiseman, both of Pekin, Eric M. Wiseman of Chicago, and Rick N. Wiseman and Sara M. Wiseman, both of Bloomington; one great-granddaughter, Kelsi L. Wiseman of Pekin; and one sister, Hattie Outzs of Largo, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Timmy M. Wiseman on November 2, 1969), three brothers, and six sisters.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served from November 10, 1943 to December 20, 1945. He attained the rank of Fireman First Class.
Mr. Wiseman worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 40 years, retiring in 1982 as a drawing room trucker.
He was a retired member of the Independent Steel Workers Alliance in Bartonville and was a former member of the Keystone Goodfellow’s Club.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and roller skating.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Ron Little will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

PEKIN ~ Mildred Emma Fornoff, 88, of rural Pekin, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
She was born January 23, 1917 in Green Valley to Phillip G. and Matilda A. Vetter Ripper. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn K. “Boots” Kenney of Pekin; three grandchildren, Randy E. (Rachel) Kenney of Manito, Vicki K. (Gary) Fields and Brenda M. (Kevin) Kaeb, both of Green Valley; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She had worked for many years as a weigh master in the office for Sours Grain Company in Pekin.
She enjoyed playing bingo and flower gardening and always kept an interest in farming. She lived in the Pekin area all of her life.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt and William Krueger, DCE will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

PEKIN - Waldo A Dorsett, 86, of Pekin died at 2 p.m. Sunday,
August 7, 2005, at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. He was formerly of Macomb.
He was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Macomb to Russell and Lola Ward Dorsett.
Surviving are three nephews, Dick Gamage of Pekin, Bob Middendorf of Leroy, and David Middendorf in Minnesota; two nieces, Penny Gamage of Galesburg and Donna Pershing of Macomb.
He was preceded in death one half brother and two sisters.
Dorsett was a custodian at the Macomb Pottery for many years.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday,
August 12, 2005 in Oakwood Cemetery, 1027 N. Randolph St., in Macomb. The Rev. Mark Wheeler will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Rock City, IL ~ Dr. Richard Franklin Perry, 69, of 7150 East Brick School Road, died at 5:16 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Hopedale Hospital Emergency Room in Hopedale, IL.
He was born January 22, 1936 in Vineland, New Jersey to Henry Joseph and Ida Mae Evelyn Nash Olivia. His parents preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by
one half-brother (Henry Oliva, Jr.), one half-sister (Joyce Oliva Gray) and his adoptive father, Benjamin F. Perry.
Surviving are his fiancée, Nadine H. Rosebrook of Rock City; one son, Scott D. (Theresa) Perry of Hood River, Oregon; one daughter, Kimberly A. (Steve) Genovese of Valparaiso, Indiana and two sisters, Denise Meredith of Charles Town, West Virginia and Carol Grennon of Millville, New Jersey.
He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated in 1959 from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. He was a 1963 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines, Iowa. He served his internship at Des Moines General Hospital and his residency at College Hospital also in Des Moines.
A board certified emergency room physician, he had served as medical director and as an emergency room staff physician for many years. He was a life member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
He enjoyed cooking, playing tennis, golfing and skiing. He also was fond of dogs and horses.
Private services will be held. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

He was born January 19, 1960 in Pekin to Clifford E. and Marian G. Hawk Bliss.
Surviving are one brother, Dennis C. Bliss of Macomb; and two nieces, Michelle Martin of San Pedro, Mexico and Kimberly Woods of Hanna City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father (Gerald Wendell).
Mr. Bliss worked at Subway on North 8th Street in Pekin for 2 ½ years. Previously, he was a bartender at JJ’s River City Landing in Creve Coeur.
He was a graduate of Illinois Central College
in East Peoria.
He was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.
He was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan, Bradley Braves basketball fan, and loved his cats.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour
before services. The Rev. Dwight E. Borden will officiate. Cremation has

Surviving are her mother and step-father, Patricia and Dan Shuman of Ponce de Leon, Florida; her father of Butler; one daughter, Rachel M. Powell of Pekin; one son, Matthew C. Adams of Chillicothe; one grandson, Isaiah M. Richardson of Pekin; and one brother, Michael K. Knackmuhs of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by one sister (Michelle “Shelly” Wall).
She had worked at the Tazewell County Circuit Clerk’s office in Pekin, Crown Rent-to-Own in Peoria, Heilig-Meyer in Peoria, and had tended bar at the Marine Corps League in rural Pekin.
She was an associate member of the Marine Corps League in Pekin.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cake baking and decorating.

Born March 8, 1933 in Sevierville, Tennessee to Thomas and Margaret Louise Johnson Justus, she married Thomas E. Webster on June 22, 1962 in Pekin. He died December 7, 1983 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by one infant brother and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Lisa M. Webster of Ravenna, Ohio; two brothers, Thomas C. (Cindy) Justus of Mackinaw and James D. (Patricia) Justus of Pekin; ten nephews; two nieces; and a special friend, Crosby “Cuz” Oldham of Tremont who she helped care for.
Mrs. Webster worked at Pekin Hospital as a physical therapist assistant, retiring in 1978. Following retirement, she was a babysitter.
She was a member of the Pekin First Church of the Nazarene and the Salvation Army Home League. She was a former member of the Carrie M. Class at the Pekin Union Mission.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and collecting Santa Clauses.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Syl Carter will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Born October 3, 1914 in Wethersfield to Grover Cleveland and Grace Marie Lechner Lambert, he married Jessie Lavina Seaton on December 26, 1936 in Hennepin. She survives.

Keiser, of Morton; seven grandchildren, Douglas (Lisa) Chrestenson of Elgin, David Chrestenson of Farmington, Stacey (Brian) Nannen, Christine (Rusty) Dunn, Jennifer (Chad) Hartley, Eric Weiland, all of Pekin and Jay Fulton of Morton; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Virgil Milo Lambert of Leesburg, Florida and one sister, Mabel Evelyn Howeler of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, two infant grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
He had served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Marengo, Wisconsin.
Mr. Lambert was an agent for Prudential Insurance in Pekin for 30 years, retiring on April 12, 1976. He previously had worked as a machinist at Northern Pump Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was a past president and former 10 year member of the South Pekin Grade School District No. 137 Board of Education.
A dog trainer in obedience and conformation, he showed at American Kennel Club events throughout the United States and Canada. He also was a 4-H Instructor in dog obedience for 15 years in Peoria, Tazewell and Fulton Counties. He was an honorary member and former instructor at the Peoria Obedience Training Club. He was a former member of the Illinois Valley Kennel Club, Mid-State Bird Dog Club and the Illinois Dog Club and Breeders Association. He also was a member of the German Wire Haired Pointer Club of Illinois and the Pimiteoui Poodle Club, Inc of Peoria
He was a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Tom Cone will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday,

Born November 16, 1933 in Peoria to Eugene and Mildred Grogan Roberts, she married Charles Maureen Potter in 1953.
He died February 17, 1980 in Pekin. She later married Raymond Lee Kerker on April
23, 1988 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Robert L. (Kim) Potter, Donald E. (Ann) Potter, and David M. (Kathy) Potter, all of Pekin, Timmy Joe (Janice) Potter of Topeka, and Charles M. “Chucky” (Vicky) Potter of Bartonville; one step-son, Edward A. Kerker of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two step-daughters, Cheryl A. Boelk of Mendota and Deborah L. (David) Runkle of Fort Wayne, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and two sisters, Virginia Szlabick of Marshfield, Wisconsin and Barbara Eakle of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and two step-grandsons.
She worked as a beautician for several years in the Pekin area including the Texas Barber Shop in Pekin. She then worked for the Eagle Food Center in Pekin as a cashier for several years. She later was the manager of the Brookmeadow Apartments in Pekin for over seven years. She last was a receptionist for Dr. Robert Van Horn in Fort Wayne, Indiana for seven years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and a former member of the Pekin Women of the
Moose, and an avid bowler, she was a former member of several
bowling leagues.
She enjoyed making crafts, cooking, and spending time with family.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Deacon Charles Murray will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday,
August 8, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Also surviving are five daughters, Juanita Farley of Bartonville, Idelle Davis, Donna Kemp, both of Peoria, Susan Kennedy of Dublin, Ireland and Peggy Lester of Henry; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Velva Putman of Canton.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald W. Rumple.
She was of the Catholic faith.

Born October 8, 1915 in Bement to Harry Edwin and Mabel Edna Shaw Schneider, he married Dorothy J. Olinger on August 10, 1935 in Bartonville. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Donald E. (Nancy) Schneider of Canton; one daughter, Jan Schneider of Pekin; three grandchildren, Dean E. Schneider, Jodi (Tony) Erickson, both of Pekin and Roberta “Bobbi” (Bill) Powell of Oak Harbor, Washington and four great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, where he was a gauge inspector at East Peoria in Building HH and later in Building LL, retiring
on December 1, 1976.
He was a 51-year and life member of Empire Lodge No. 126, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois in Pekin.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

PEORIA ~ Gary Eugene Trueblood, 64, of 217B Milner, Newbern, Tennessee, died at 4.38 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. He was formerly of 1506 Hendryx Lane in Peoria.
Born July 27, 1941 in Assumption to Mathew and Lottie Meyerholz Trueblood, he married Gloria J. Enos on August 17, 1963 in Tekonsha, Michigan. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Todd A. (Margaret) Trueblood of Appleton, Wisconsin, Gary Rae (Angela) Trueblood of Mossville and Darren Eugene (Tara) Trueblood of Chicago; four grandchildren, Matthew Allen Trueblood, Kayla Malaney Trueblood, Malinda Jean Trueblood and Emma Kathryn Trueblood; two brothers, Raymond (Esther) Trueblood of Pekin and Billy Joe (Sue) Trueblood of Peoria and four sisters, Lou (Ben) Boles of Washington, Shirley (Alvin) Kempton of Coldwater, Michigan, Carol Phillips of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Elaine (Fred) Gebbink of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1996 as a maintenance supervisor in East Peoria. Following retirement he was a consulting engineer for Caterpillar in Dyersburg, Tennessee, last working on July 30th.
He was an avid golfer, loved the Chicago Cubs and lived for his grandchildren.
He was a former member of the Jaycees in East Peoria. He was a past president of the Mossville Little League for six years and was a former volunteer fire fighter for the Chillicothe Fire Department.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.
Pastor Fred C. Gebbink will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.

PEKIN ~ Kevin F. Muth, 43, of 1408 Hazel Street, died at 2:33 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 at his residence. He was formerly of Chicago.
Born August 2, 1962 in DeKalb to Frank and Donna Matheny Muth, he married Shawn L. Hoehn on July 27, 2001 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Derek S. Muth; one step-son, Dustin M. Hoehn and one brother, Brian S. (Kim) Muth, all of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Paula Muth.
A graduate of the Cooking Academy of Chicago in 1998, Kevin was the kitchen manager at Kelleher’s Irish Pub on Southwest Water Street in Peoria since it’s opening in 2001, last working Tuesday. He previously worked as a foreman for Richardson Seating in Chicago for 10 years.
He loved to cook and was an active member of the American Culinary Federation, Inc. since 1999. He also was an avid fan of Chicago professional sports.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be held two hours before services. The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services.

PEKIN – Celestine Margaret “Sally” Enos, 93, of 1904 Willow St. died at 11:18 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at her home.
Born June 16, 1912 in Henry, Illinois to John and Anna Staab Ziegler, she married Melvin M. “Dan” Enos on June 23, 1932 in Henry.
She was preceded in death by her husband on September 24, 1980 in Peoria; and 2 brothers.
Surviving are 2 sons, Jerry Enos and Robert Enos, both of Peoria; 3 daughters, Jackie Workman of Chillicothe, and Janice (Don) Oates and Jean Christy, both of Pekin; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
A homemaker, she was of the Catholic faith.
She was formerly a member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Eagles auxiliary, both in Pekin. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and traveling.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday at Calvary Cemetery in Henry. There will be no visitation.

PEKIN ~ Guy N. Ewing, 74, of 2206 Scenic View Court, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born May 23, 1931 in Danville to Guy and Marie Watson Ewing, he married F. Janet Tobin on July 1, 1950 in Danville. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Norman Fred (Cindy) Ewing of Peoria and R. Scott Ewing of Pekin; one daughter, Kathleen L. (Dick) Bouris of El Paso; and three grandsons, Keith N. Ewing and Joshua R. Ewing, both of Pekin, and Bradley A. Bouris of El Paso.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Ewing worked as a train master for 40 years, last working for Indiana Harbor Belt in Chicago where he retired in June of 1991. Following retirement, he worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, last working July 6, 2005.
He was active in area youth sports for many years and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Joe Magner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded

FAIRMOUNT — Barbara S. Toy, 68, of Fairmount, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Monday,
August 1, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mrs. Toy was born March 12, 1937, in Danville, to Robert and Ann Haluska McNees. She married Robert G. Toy in Danville on May 17. 1958. He survives as well as one son, James R. (Mary) Toy of Fairmount.
Private family graveside rites were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. The Rev. Mike Roberts officiated.
The family has suggested memorials in her memory to the Fairmount Rescue.

She was born October 3, 1945 in Peoria to William Clifford Jr. and Thelma C. Veirs Burke.
She worked in the workshop of Bridgeway, Inc. for the past year.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and talking to others.

Born May 31, 1930 in Princeton to Randall F. and Anna M. Broers Hoehn, he married Donna F. Gardiner on February 25, 1951 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Dennis G. (Debby) Hoehn of South Pekin; 1 daughter, Randa L. Hoehn of Bartonville; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Randall J. Hoehn of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son; and 1 grandson.
He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 43 years retiring as a transmission hydraulic controls senior design engineer in 1992.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Green Valley where he was involved in the dartball league and the Christian Service Organization.
He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
He held 3 U.S. patents in his name and was a co-holder on many more patents through Caterpillar.
He was a member of the Handyman’s Club and enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, wood carving, and intartia.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Green Valley. Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt and William Krueger, D.C.E. will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

He was an avid fisherman and Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

Born May 25, 1959 in Peoria to Donald Paul and Patricia Ann Butler Aeschliman, he married Darlene Stinsen. He later married Jane Ramsey.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Pat and Gary Lalock of rural Manito; two sons, Mark Alan (Stephanie) Aeschliman, II and Randle Travis Aeschliman, both of Creve Coeur; one daughter, Kalee Ann Aeschliman of Creve Coeur; two grandsons; one step-son, Jason Loy of Peoria; one step-daughter, Gina Harper of Washington; one brother, Timothy (Linda) Aeschliman of Delavan; one sister, Lisa (Greggory) Knight of Pekin; one half-brother, Daniel (Amanda) Aeschliman of Peoria; two half-sisters, Carey (Russ) Harris of Eureka and Jennifer (Sean)
Grogen of East Peoria; and three step-sisters, Jeannie Jollif of Arlington, Texas, Patti Baird of Washington, and Glenda Howe of Peoria.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Aeschliman was a self-employed swimming pool contractor since 2002. He previously worked for his father at Aeschliman Family Pools in East Peoria.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of a dart league.

Born November 1, 1944 in Robinson to Otto Kenneth and G. Corinne Talbott Chaney, she married Thomas James Orrick, II on October 26, 1963 in Forest City. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, G. Corinne DeSutter of Manito; one daughter, Brenda L. (Edward) Schwinn of Pekin; one son, Douglas D. (Kelly) Orrick of Pekin; three grandchildren, Karson A. Orrick, Thomas J. Orrick, III, and Connor E. Schwinn, all of Pekin; one brother, Duane (Karen) Chaney of Manito; and one step-sister, Becky (Rob) Laumeier of Niota.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-father (Frank DeSutter).
A homemaker, Mrs. Orrick was a co-founder and past president for several years of the former Central Illinois Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Pekin.
She was a member of the Forest City Community Church in Forest City and attended Crossroads Full Gospel Church in rural Pekin.
She enjoyed sewing and photography.

Born March 17, 1923 in Peoria to Edward and Marie Mohr Hamilton, she married James Clifford Shinall on August 30, 1941 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He died June 26, 1981 in Peoria. She later married William Vincent Watson on September 1, 1984 in Creve Coeur.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 8, 2001 in Morton; and 1 brother.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Rebecca (Pat) Booth of East Peoria and Sandra Quinn of Metamora; 2 step-daughters, Nancy (Alan) Hersemann of East Peoria and Judy L’Heureux of Friendswood, Texas; 4 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, she had also worked at Nyman’s Market in Creve Coeur for 5 years during the late 1970s. She had previously worked as a bookkeeper at Ed’s Radiator and Welding Shop in Creve Coeur and at the Bonanza Steak House in Peoria.
She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Creve Coeur.
She had been an assistant Girl Scout leader in Creve Coeur during the early 1950s. She enjoyed crocheting.

Born April 18, 1919 in Timber Township, Peoria County to Robert Fulton and Edith Northrup Sill, he married Ora Belle Strunk. He later married Zertha F. Whitley Elliott. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son (David Sill), and one sister (Grace Hogue).
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon L. Chiodo of Naperville, and Sherry A. Hood and Joyce F. (Michael) Brooks, both of East Peoria; two sons, M. Ed (Sue) Elliott of East Peoria and Ken W. (Joan) Elliott of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis R. Legg of Pekin and Charlotte M. (Kermit) Erickson of Dassel, Minnesota.
Mr. Sill had worked for Peoria Partition Plant in Peoria for several years, retiring in 1979 as a foreman.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin and attended Christ Bible Church in Creve Coeur.
He enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Born October 8, 1924 in Mapleton to Warren H. and Mabel Evans Dudley, he married Alameda Andregetti in Orchard Mines. He later married Betty Walker Hauk in 1971 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 1 step-son, Carl (Leslie) Hauk of Tremont; 1 step-granddaughter; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Dudley of Pekin; 1 sister, Ruth Look of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dudley worked at Allied Mills, which later became Continental Grain Company, in Bartonville for 47 years, retiring as the specialties plant supervisor in 1986.
He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed go-cart racing.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Maple Ridge Cemetery in rural Mapleton. Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. There will be no visitation.

PEKIN ~ Christopher Alan “Chris” Hedrick, 45, of 4076 Craig Place, Gainesville, Georgia, died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2005 at his home following a lengthy physical illness. He was formerly of Pekin and Reno, Nevada.
Born October 1, 1959 in Pekin to Darrell Roy and Donna Jean Dilworth Hedrick, he married Susan Kay Pankey on July 8, 1984 in rural
Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his father of Reno, Nevada; one son, Ryan Christopher Hedrick of Gainesville, Georgia; one daughter, Tara Danielle Hedrick of Gainesville, Georgia; one brother, Darrell Ray (Carol) Hedrick of Reno, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and one grandson (Kamren Zane Hedrick).
A 1977 graduate of Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada, he was a member of the wrestling and football teams.
Mr. Hedrick had worked for Ditler Brothers in Oakwood, Georgia for over 7 years, last working in 1995.
He was a member of Chestnut Mountain Church in Chestnut Mountain, Georgia.
He was an avid Oakland Raiders football fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Vincent O. Ladd, 65, of 203 East Main Street passed away at 8:45 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 at his residence.
Born November 10, 1939 in New Liberty to Ollie Wilford and Tressa Mae Johnston Ladd, he married Kathy Marie Formanski on June 9, 1990 in Melrose Park. She survives along with one brother, Jesse R. (Mary) Ladd of Paducah, Kentucky.
Mr. Ladd was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers and two half-sisters.
A self-employed truck driver for 37 years, retiring in 2002, he and his wife have owned and operated the South Pekin Mini Storage the past 3 years.
He was a fan of dirt track racing and was a dirt track racing car mechanic. He also was a NASCAR fan.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the South Pekin Congregational Church. The Rev. Thomas Cone will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

She was preceded in death by 1 brother.
A waitress for many years, she last worked at the Peppermill in Morton for 12 years, retiring in 1997.

(Ellen) Sutton, Jr. of St. Charles; 1 daughter, Geraldine (Ray) Erwin of Detroit, Michigan; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and 3 sisters, Lillian Stamper of Pekin, Alice (Lee) Jacobian of Oceanside, California, and Marjorie Hausam of San Diego, California.

MACKINAW ~ John Edward Wells, 76, of 2220 State Street in Pekin, died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. He was formerly of Mackinaw and
Minier.
He was born November 24, 1928 in Danvers Township, McLean County to Thomas and Anna Winkler Wells. His parents; one brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving are one sister, Cleora Sigler of Pekin; his caregivers, Omer L. and Norma J. Noel of Manito and several nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Illinois State University at Normal. He also was a United States Air Force veteran.
Mr. Wells was a retiree of the Peoria Journal Star, where he worked from April of 1967 to June of 1979 as a copy editor. He previously was a high school teacher.
He was a former member of the Christian Church in Mackinaw and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin.
His graveside funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005 at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Born December 15, 1904 in Manor Park, Condon, England to William and Jane Maude Cook Smith, she married Stanley George Smythe on June 18, 1927 in London, England. He died February 16, 1948. She then married Rev. Baskell Vernon Monroe on October 31, 1958 in London. He died in August 1982 in Pekin. Also, preceding in death were 1 brother and 1 sister.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Brenda (Norman) Sunderland of Australia; 1 grandson, Andrew (Ann) Willingale of Surrey, England; and 2 great-grandchildren, Victoria and Adam Willingale, both of Surrey, England.
A homemaker, Mrs. Monroe had worked many years ago as a retail buyer for Boardman’s Department Store in London. She had also served as a church organist, pianist, and Sunday School teacher in her husband’s parishes for many years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin.

Born August 29, 1930 in Elsberry, Missouri to William and Clara Baird Berkley, he married Erma Jean Merideth on October 10, 1952 in Arkansas. He later married Dorothy Jean “Dottie” Davenport on February 1, 1969 in Decatur. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Lynn L. (Jack) Peters, Donna L. (Scott) Books and Patricia A. (Wes) Jockisch, all of Pekin; one son, Tony D. (Connie) Berkley of Pekin; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and one sister, Bonnie B. Colbert of Elsberry, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Albert Berkley.
He served with the United States Air Force and retired from the Owens Illinois Glass Works in Alton.
He was Southern Baptist. He also was a member of the Wood River Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Star Hope Cemetery in Elsberry.

CREVE COEUR ~ Ruth Clark, 93, of 401 9th Street in Lacon passed away at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon. She was formerly of 413 North Highland Avenue in Creve Coeur.
Born May 27, 1912 in Hartford, Connecticut to Alfred and Josephina Albertina Vidholm Stenwall, she married Leroy Thomas Clark on March 31, 1940 in Kewanee. He died March 18, 1997 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice A. “Jan” (Tony) Bonnette of Creve Coeur; one son, David G. Clark of Georgetown, South Carolina; five grandsons, Fred Clark of Peoria, Christopher (Kim) Clark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard Bonnette, Robert Bonnette, both of Dallas, Texas and David Clark, Jr. of Georgetown, South Carolina and one great-granddaughter, Madison Nicole Clark.
She was a homemaker. She also was a former den mother and Girl Scout leader.
She was a former member of the Creve Coeur Library Board for more than 20 years. She was also a former member of the Creve Coeur Women’s Club and the Creve Coeur Home Extension.
She was a member of the Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Her funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Timothy Nolan and Rev. Lawrence P. Morrissey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be 30 minutes before services Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee with Deacon Martin E. Van Meltebeck officiating.

(Mary) Whitehurst of Liverpool and Douglas K. Whitehurst of Chicago; four sisters, Robin R. Flier of Washington, Rosalie A. Brokaw of Rich Hill, Missouri, Barbie L. Ropp of Peoria and Deborah D. “Debbie” (Joe) Dotson of East Peoria and many nieces and nephews.
She worked for Bergner’s as a home store associate at East Court Village in Pekin for many years, last working Friday.
She attended Gethsemane Church in Pekin.
Her life revolved around her son and she enjoyed traveling. She liked to collect memorabilia on wolves.

Born July 28, 1955 in Sycamore to Harold Dean and Donna Lou Elliott McCain, she married Walter Orville “Walt” Hamann on October 10, 1980 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Pekin; two daughters, Hilarie E. (Rodney) Nehmelman of San Jose and Nicole M. Sutton of Manito; five grandchildren, Brody M. Sutton, Tyler J. Sutton, and Dakota M. Sutton, all of Manito, Austin G. Nehmelman of San Jose, and Wesley W. Holliger of Manito; one brother, Brad D. (Karen) McCain of Pekin; and one sister, Penny L. McCain of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her father on April 23, 1976 in Pekin, one sister (Lorrie A. McCain on September 4, 2003 in rural Manito), and one brother (Mark L. McCain on June 1, 1975 in Peoria).
A homemaker, she worked in the cafeteria at Spring Lake School in rural Manito for several years, last working in 2002.
She was a member of the Peoria Sportsman Club in rural Manito.
She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and her animals.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation. There will be no services.

Born June 17, 1954 in Pekin to Alvin Leo “Al” and Edith Ellnora Stewart Harding, she married William Spencer “Bill” Gardiner. He survives.
Also surviving are her parents of Pekin; one son, Damon L. (Katie) Gardiner of Pekin; one daughter, Chana D. (Brian) Thousand of Creve Coeur; and four grandchildren, Zackery D. Gardiner and Victoria C. Gardiner, both of Elwood, Indiana, and Devin C. Thousand and Jaden M. Thousand, both of Creve Coeur.
Her grandparents preceded her in death.
Gayle had worked as the manager for the Atkins Apartments in Peoria for many years. She later worked as a caregiver for the Department of Rehabilitation Services in Pekin, last working in September of 2004. Previously, she worked at Wal-Mart, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Subway on North 8th Street, all in Pekin, and Professional Maintenance of Illinois in Peoria.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pekin.
She enjoyed collecting knives and swords.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Christine A. Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Born December 23, 1926 in Pekin to John Edgar and Wilhelmina Annetta “Minnie” Koobs Wolfer, she married William Schieberl. He died in March of 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, nine brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are two sisters, Muriel S. Buchanan of Pekin and Minnie E. (George) Wilson of Inverness, Florida; one brother, Dr. George K. (Natalie) Wolfer of Edmore, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
She worked as a nurse anesthetist at the Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale for many years.
She was a member of the Hinsdale Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hinsdale.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Surviving are her aunts, Alta M. (Jerry) Pullen of Clayton, Indiana and Donna F. Huddleston of Pekin, with whom she formerly resided and special friends who helped raise her, Rev. Norman and Debbie Jaegar of St. Louis and Peggy Smith of Clayton.
Her parents and grandparents preceded her in death.
She was a 1993 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
She formerly attended several area churches including Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
Miss Tackett had formerly worked at Tazewell County Resource Centers, Inc. (TCRC) in both Peoria and Tremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant twin sister.
She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Illinois Central College in 1988. She then worked as a registered nurse in the mother-baby unit at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, last working in 2003.
A family oriented person, she was especially fond of her granddaughters.

Mr. Watson worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 ½ years, retiring in 2001 as an assembler at Mossville.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching NASCAR. He also was a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Born January 3, 1921 in Paragould, Arkansas to Jay Hugh and Inez Louise Hensley Boyd, he married Ruth Irene Funk on July 26, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, James R., Jr. (Bonnie) Boyd of Pekin; one daughter, Rozanna A. (Jerry) Gniadek of Pekin; three grandchildren, Stacey L. (Brian) Nannen and Christine K. (Rusty) Dunn, both of Pekin, and Chaney A. (Joanna) Gniadek of Tremont; and five great-grandchildren.
His parents and one sister (Sylvia L. Prince) preceded him in death.
Mr. Boyd worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1979 as a scribe mill operator in building LL in East Peoria. He previously worked at Koch Brothers Distributing in Peoria as a bottler and later at Corn Products Company in Pekin.
He was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and the United Auto Workers Local 974 Retirees Club.

Surviving are one son, Bill E. (Patricia) Fornoff of Charlotte, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Fornoff of Pekin, who helped care for her; four grandchildren, Stephen L. (Debra) Fornoff of Washington and Diane L. Fornoff of Pekin, both who helped care for her, Tracy (Kevin) Grove of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Kristen (Shawn) Brodof of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Merle (Betty) Farrow of Pekin; and one sister, Juanita Hall of Pekin.
She was a bookkeeper for Drs. Wherry, Werner, Helden, and Colson in Pekin for many years.
She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Concordia Society.
She formerly enjoyed to knit, bowl and camping.

Mr. Mouck worked for Peoria Disposal Company for 28 years, retiring in October of 2004.
He was a United State Army veteran of the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.
He was a member of the Phoenix Chapter in Sunnyland.
He enjoyed listening and recording music. He also enjoyed playing video poker.

He was born July 10, 1943 in Peoria to Louis Franklin Sr. and Evelyn Margaret Brown Huffman.
Surviving are two sons, Gary D. Jr. (Brandy) Huffman and Billy Joe (Christie) Huffman, both of Marquette Heights; three daughters, Lynn Sue (Eddie) Garcia of Roanoke, Deana L. (Glenn) Theinert of Hanna City, and Sherri J. Huffman of Peoria Heights; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Ervin W. Huffman, Sr. of Peoria; and one sister, Sharon L. Test of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Louis F. Huffman, Jr.), and one nephew.
Mr. Huffman was a well known painter at area autobody shops for 30 years. He later was a bartender at several taverns in Peoria. In the early 1970’s, he was a truck driving instructor at Illinois Central Illinois in East Peoria.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria.
He enjoyed watching TT motorcycle racing and cooking.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Born July 1, 1923 in Pekin to Horace Hal and Verna M. Young Woodley, he married Theresa Bea Hume. He later married Kathleen Eileen McCray on October 23, 1948 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert J. (Melva) Woodley of Rangely, Colorado and Danny J. Swift of Pekin; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Norma Jean Barker), two half-sisters, and one half-brother.
Mr. Woodley worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 40 years, retiring in 1982 as a wire drawer.
An avid bowler, he was a member of the Hall of Fame of the Pekin Bowling Association. He was a former board member and past assistant secretary of the Pekin Bowling Association. He also was a past league secretary.
He was a Chicago Cubs fan.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Surviving are one son, Rodney Wayne Causey of Peoria; one daughter, Deborah L. (Rev. W. Mark) Utech of Delavan; five grandchildren, Michael Thomas Causey and Mark Allan Causey, both of Peoria, Ryan Patrick Culp of East Peoria, Travis Nolan (Rebekah) Culp of Groveland, and William Christopher (Georgia) Utech of Green Valley; and one great-granddaughter, Kiley Marie Utech of Green Valley.
Mrs. Causey and her husband owned and operated Controlled Builders in Peoria from 1970 to 1980. She later was a sales associate at Von Maur and Dillard’s Department Stores, both in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She attended Days of Grace Fellowship in Morton. She enjoyed cooking.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the American Mausoleum in Peoria, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. W. Mark Utech, her son-in-law, will officiate.
Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN – Leora Ellen Ufheil, 92, of 279 N. Lecanto Highway in Lecanto, Florida died at 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2005 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home in Hernando, Florida. She was formerly of 1471 Valle Vista Blvd. in Pekin.
Born December 13, 1912 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Clinton and Ida Keena Flathers, she married Albert Ufheil in December 1937 in Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 11, 1979 in Dunedin, Florida; 7 brothers; and 1 sister.
Surviving are 2 sons, John (Rosemary) Ufheil of Lecanto and James (Catherine) Ufheil of Medford, New Jersey; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Phyllis) Fabry of Wyoming, Illinois; and 1 sister, Mary (Ralph) Hanes of Maroa, Illinois.
A homemaker, she was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin and the King’s Daughters.
She collected ceramic birds and bird photos and enjoyed reading.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2005 at First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin. Rev. Robert A. Scott will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday,
June 17, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

JAMES MCMILLIAN
(1925~2005)
PEKIN ~ James J. McMillian, 80, of 500 Centennial Drive in East Peoria, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005 at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria. He was formerly of 1324 South 2nd Street in Pekin.
Born February 22, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Horace J. and Bethel Higgins McMillian, he married M. Eileen Myers on January 30, 1947 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Linda L. (Scott) Crawford of Indianapolis, Indiana,
Michele D. Wiegand of East Peoria and Gail L. (David) Burrows of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Marla (Zak) Shockley of Greenfield, Indiana, Daniel Crawford of Indianapolis, Scott (Melissa) Wiegand, Missy Wiegand, both of East Peoria, Kelly Burrows, Kori Burrows and Eric Burrows, all of Peoria and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 3rd airborne in New Guinea.
He was a retired member of Teamsters & Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria, working for N.E. Finch in East Peoria as a truck driver for many years until retiring.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin and Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234.
A great musician who loved country music, Mr. McMillian was a life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 301. He played the guitar since he was 9 years old and played for more than 20 years with the Glenn Reader Band.
He bowled in leagues at Sunset Lanes in Pekin for many years and was a member of the American Bowling Congress.
He enjoyed traveling and loved his family.
He attended First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Alan L. Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Pekin or to First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

PEKIN – James Eugene Vick, 58, of 18442 Red Shale Hill Rd., died at 2:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at his home.
Born December 24, 1946 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Willard Jackson and Carrie Russell Perkins Vick, he married Pat Freas on July 2, 1967 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Jim (P.J.) Vick and Scott (Amy) Vick, both of Delavan; 1 daughter, Tricia (Scott) Springer of Roanoke; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale (Aloma) Vick of North Pekin, Kelly (Jill) Vick of Pekin; and 2 sisters, Brenda Vick and Annette Vick, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Vick worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 37 years, retiring April 1, 2002 as a technical program coordinator.
He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and a former member of the Marquette Heights Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and his grandchildren.
He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin
Chapel, where visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
The Rev. Dr. Timothy Najpaver will officiate. Private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Cancer Association or the Delavan Fire Department.

PEKIN – James Howard Scamp, 70, of Danville, Illinois died at 3:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center of Champaign-Urbana in Urbana. He was formerly of Pekin.
He was born October 29, 1934 in South Pekin to Howard H. and Bernadine I. McCoy Scamp.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Bernadine and Thaddeus Just of Pekin; 3 daughters, Brenda (Michael) Young and Melissa (Jon) Little, both of Pekin, and Julia Greiner of Bourbonnais, Illinois; 1 son, Mark (Margo) Scamp of Pekin; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Scamp last worked as a courier for Smith-Kline Pharmaceutical Company. Previously, he had managed several area restaurants for many years.
He formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
He enjoyed cooking, reading, was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and animal lover.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin
Chapel. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DOROTHY MOTT
(1931 ~ 2005)
PEKIN ~ Dorothy “Dot” Mott, 73, of 5612 Williams in Omaha, Nebraska since 2003, died at 6:38 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was formerly of 1906 St. Clair Drive in Pekin.
Born July 28, 1931 in Chicago to Arthur and Helen Snyder McCullough, she married Ernest T. Mott on June 24, 1950 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven A. (Gale) Mott and David E. (Lisa) Mott, both of Pekin and Thad W. (Teresa) Mott of Omaha and six grandchildren, Joe Mott, Nick Mott and Gina Mott, all of Pekin, Emma Mott, Elijah Mott and Esther Mott, all of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arthur “Bud” McCullough.
A graduate of Pekin Community High School, Mrs. Mott worked as a legal secretary for an attorney at the Tazewell County Court House in Pekin until she received her real estate license. She then worked as a real estate agent in the Pekin area for the next 10 years.
In 1990, she and her husband moved to Ontario, Canada until his retirement in 1995. They then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks until 2000 when they moved back to Pekin.
